A First Look at the Ioniq 5 XRT Off-Road

There’s a lot to love about the 2025 Hyundai Ioniq 5 XRT, and it’s getting even better in 2025 with a new XRT trim that’s ready to take on rough terrain. Just because you want to find an electric vehicle at a Hyundai dealership doesn’t mean that you don’t want adventure. This is where the new Ioniq XRT comes to the rescue. It offers EV efficiency and eco-friendliness but with the heart of an adventurer.

It Comes Ready to Play

Where other electric hatchbacks are minimizing their ground clearance to make them more aerodynamic, the Ioniq 5 XRT is giving you more ground clearance so you can drive it in places that you wouldn’t dream of taking other EVs. It sits almost an entire inch higher than the other Ioniq trims and rides on all-terrain tires, so when you come across bumpy roads, you can just keep going.
The improved approach and departure angles help make easy work of hilly terrain, and the standard all-wheel drive gives you extra traction for confidence behind the wheel. If you do run into issues, don’t worry; it has two hooks, so your friends can pull you out. You can also use them to pull your friends out if they are the ones to run into trouble. They can handle up to 5,834 pounds, which is a number that can be taken seriously.

Power and Range That Takes You Anywhere

The XRT will be powered by two electric motors and the fourth-generation 84 kWh battery. The combination produces 300 horsepower and gives this Ioniq 5 up to 280 miles of range.
While you won’t find charging stations out in the middle of nowhere, the latest Ioniq 5 now has the new NACS charging port, giving it access to Tesla Superchargers. With over 17,000 of these across the country, you can make sure you quickly get a full charge before you head out to the unknown.

Adventure-Ready on the Inside, too

Inside, the Ioniq 5 XRT, along with the rest of the Ioniq 5 trims, gets a revamped cabin. Instead of two 12-inch screens, there are now two 12.3-inch screens: a touchscreen for the infotainment system and a display screen in front of the driver. The infotainment system will run Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and offer over-the-air updates, so you always have the latest version.

The HVAC controls have some physical buttons, making it easier to adjust the cabin temperature along with the heated seats and heated steering wheel. The XRT will distinguish itself from the other trims with a black headliner, leatherette upholstery with the XRT logo on the seatback, and all-weather floor mats that also wear XRT badging.

Protection, Connection, and Functionality

According to Hyundai, the Ioniq 5 XRT is the trim you want to find at your Hyundai dealership if you’re looking for the best of both worlds: an electric vehicle and an off-road-ready adventurer.
